This is probably a non-profit organization sponsoring the event. Thus, their costs must remain low. Thus, no child care is provided. Practical economics at work. Duh ! Why is that a source of amuzement?

I happen to know the sponsoring agency for the conference is a "nonprofit", but one flush with endowment cash. Perhaps they just wanted "professionals" at this conference, and not parents with children with anxiety who really have to face these challenges, day after day.
