Now for a little expression of bewilderment concerning Maestro Karajan's conducting style. I realize that I am probably ne of the least in a long line of musicians who have remarked on the vagueness of his direction. I realize that the audio is out of sync with the video. Even so, for the first minute, I'm thinking that everything must have occurred in rehearsal because for the life of me, he appears to be conducting a different piece than the orchestra is playing.
By the way, check out the nose scratch at about 4:50.
I wonder how much the Beautiful Blue Danube has been restored in the last 25 years.
