"O, We Lucky Few"
“O, We Lucky Few: Upon the Death of Hundreds of Elementary School Children in Haiti, Friday, 7 November 2008”
I.
O, we lucky few,
In this parch’d and curs-ed land
In our schoolhouse refuge,
Refuge,
Refuge,
Bless-ed widow’s mite of learning,
And then shabby construction collapsed.
II.
O, we lucky few,
700,
‘Neath rubble grav’d,
Grav’d 'neath our dreams.
