Today is Tuesday, 12 October 2010.

Matthew Shepard, died this date in 1998, assassinated by homophobia.

And too many more.

Careful what you say...

"You've got to be carefully taught before it's too late... to hate all the people your relatives hate." Quite a bold musical statement for Rogers and Hammerstein in the 40's. As true today as it was then.

Oops. That should be "Rodgers" and Hammerstein. I hate typos! Others can't tell if you're uneducated or simply careless...

That was the other tune I considered using. And no one would mistake someone who would comment with that song as "uneducated". As for "careless" ... as Donald Rumsfeld said, "Stuff happens". Thanks for thinking of the tune. The entire anti-racist subtext of "South Pacific" is gutsy for the time. Or for that matter, in certain venues in these Tea Partei times.

My pleasure. That song, so simple yet so profound, has always been a favorite of mine. Glad you enjoyed it.

Speaking of typos - it's spelled Tea Party.

That was a hit, not a mis. Teabagger ideology is so reactionary and racist as to justify sarcasm of German spelling. One can goosestep to it.

You mean, a miss instead of a mis?

I don't know German. Sorry that I'm not multi-lingual.

Not to be sorry. I'm largely monolingual myself. Not to mention monogamous, and frequently monosyllabic. Try to stay away from monomania.
