On this date in 1986, what became known as the Iran-Contra Crimes burst into public view, when the Lebanese magazine Ash-Shiraa revealed that the Ronald Reagan regime was secretly engaged in the crime of selling weapons to the neo-fascist religious dictatorship in Iran, ostensibly in a bid to secure the release of American hostages in Lebanon.

And suddenly, the multiply-felonious minions of the Great Communicator, the Patron Saint of Manly Brush Clearing, the Tanned-and-Ready White Man on Horseback, scrambled desperately to re-tool Big Bad Ron into the Great Napper, the Out-of-Touch Senior Citizen Barely Capable of Doddering to the Presidential Crapper and Back While Zipping It Up and Not Soiling Himself, the Sgt. Schultz of America:  “I know nothing!  Nothing!”

What does it tell us that every Repubnican President beginning with Nixon reveled in criminally betraying his oath of office and the public trust? 

That a President Mitt would fit right in.
