The Divine Mr. M?
Today is
Monday, 5 November 2012.
Today is the birthday of Eugene V. Debs (1855-1926), labor leader and Socialist Party stalwart, imprisoned for the crime of speaking out against American participation in World War One. In 1920, his campaign buttons read: "For President - Convict No. 9653".

It will come
as no surprise that many politicians have egos which are, to say the least, abundantly
healthy.
As a good
Mormon, Mitt Romney does most of them one better.
In an 1844 sermon known as the “King Follett Discourse”, Joseph Smith, the
founder of Mormonism, said: “God himself
was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder
heavens! … It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the
Character of God, and to know that we may converse with him as one man
converses with another, and that he was once a man like us; yea, that God
himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ
himself did.” [my italics]
Do we really need a President so delusional that he (pardon, almost He) believes
he’s on the fast track to becoming a divinity? Do you really want such a finger
(pardon, almost Finger) on the nuclear trigger?
