Second Amendment Reality
Today is Tuesday, 18 December 2012.
_______________________________________________
For purposes of logical analysis, recast the Second Amendment in the form
of an “If/then” statement.
IF a “well regulated militia” is “necessary to the security of a free
State”, THEN “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be
infringed”.
Well regulated militias have not existed and have therefore played no role
in ensuring the security of a free State since well before the Civil War. Therefore, the “IF” part of the statement is,
as they say, “inoperative”, and has no existence or force in contemporary American
society. Therefore, the “THEN” part of
the statement is also inoperative, null, and void.
Therefore, there is no Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, any more
than there is a Constitutional right to keep and bear battery-operated
toothbrushes.

Looks like to me that adding those words my distort the originally intended meaning rather than clarifying it.
