Comrades!

Let's do that Walter Benjamin reconstructionist thing: mix and match --- what thoughts - images - emotions does the conjunction of the following awaken?

THERE IS NO WRONG ANSWER!

Temptations: Ball of Confusion
Noel Coward: Mad Dogs and Englishmen
Mario Lanza: On the Street Where You Live
Erik Satie: Gymnopedie No. 1 (with duck accompaniment)

Different performers, different types of music, usually reflective of different musical tastes; but I like them all and it appears I am not alone.

Rock and roll to music hall to musical stage to concert hall.
Truth through passion, through humor, through romantic yearning, through simple beauty.
Ultimately, “Beauty is truth, truth beauty-–that is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.”

The ball of confusion has spun through to the ducklings at play. I think I’ll go to the pond and feed the ducks, maybe take a slim volume of verse. Shall I read a little more Keats? Or perhaps contemplate Robert Burns:
“Man’s inhumanity to man makes countless thousands mourn!”?

And there I am back at the ball of confusion, frustration, and injustice. Good thing I still have the works of Satie, Chopin, Emily Dickinson, and George Carlin to keep me centered.

Well, you asked for comments.
