I Do...
Today is
Friday, 9 November 2012.
On this date
in 1965, Roger La Porte of the Catholic Worker Movement set himself afire in front
of the United Nations, a call for an end to Indochina War.
On this date
in 1979, NORAD screens showed a massive incoming Soviet missile attack, and the
USE prepared to launch. Then some bright
soul thought to look at the live radar feed, and saw no such thing. A technician said: “Shit!
I accidentally loaded a missile attack training tape? I thought it was Hendrix, man.” Unfortunately, a true story. (Well, except for the Hendrix part.)

I do … demand
a federal law legalizing same-sex marriage.
I do … demand the immediate repeal of the Defense of Marriage (DoM) Act,
in reality the Protection of Homophobia Act.
Why should the
DoMers stop with same-sex marriage? Let’s see some real
moral gumption and logical consistency:
ban marriage between persons of colour and “whites”, Jews and anyone but
Jews, etc.
And if they
justify it with the “Christian nation” scam, then let’s really get down with
the Bible: polyester is of Satan, as is
eating fat, not combing one’s hair, women attending church until 33 days after
delivering a boy (66 days if a girl), reaping to the edge of a field, eating
grapes fallen on the ground in your vineyard, not paying employees at the end of
every shift, not standing in the presence of the elderly, etc.
Why is it the DoMers are so
sexually obsessed? Hmmm…

Taking it further, are you saying it would be fine with you if sisters and brothers had sex? Mothers and sons? Fathers and daughters?
Don't forget Rick Santorum's obsession with man-dog love. GOP needs a big tent with big steaks.
