"The Boy Scouts [of America] would not, under any circumstances, dictate a position to units, members or parents.  This would mean that there would no longer be any national policy regarding sexual orientation, and the chartered organizations which oversee and deliver Scouting would accept membership and select leaders consistent with each organization's mission, principles, or religious beliefs."

In plain words: the national organization won't tell you to be homophobic bigots, but if you wish to be same, it's your business and not ours.  (Wink wink.)

Or:  the national organization won't tell you to discriminate against niggers, spicks, gooks, etc., but if you wish to do so, it's your business and not ours.  (Wink wink.)

Or:  the national organization won't tell you to hate the Christ-murdering kikes, but if you wish to do so, it's your business and not ours.  (Wink wink.)

The Boy Scouts of America is a nonprofit organization.  If it wishes to promote bigotry, hatred, and violence, well, they seem to be shielded by the First Amendment.  However, let them pay their own way on their highway to Hell.
